Things you SHOULD NOT do when you want to better your figure!

In this post i'll be keeping it simple and giving you 4 things you SHOULD NOT do when wanting to better your figure! So here goes...


1) Drastically cut your calories - Be it from a fad diet or just generally eating a lot less. This will cause all sorts of complications. Things like a lack of energy, fatigue and always being tired are big side effects which will make simple daily activities difficult. Also your metabolism will drastically drop, meaning your body will be burning fewer calories through the day. On top of all this, you may not lose much fat but you will lose muscle and water (hence the weight loss). This is not only bad for your health, but it will ruin your figure!




2) Cut out an entire food group - By this I mean "avoiding carbs" or "going low fat". This is often the first thing people think of when they say they have to "lose weight" and it really isn't necessary or good for you! Each food group serves a purpose. Carbs are our main source of energy. Fruit and veg are carbs but they are packed full of vital vitamins and minerals. So no, theres absolutely reason to eliminate all carbs. Then we have fat, fats are needed to absorb vitamins A, D, E and K. They're also key to maintaining healthy cells. So again, should we avoid fat? No!



3) Do excessive amounts of cardio - There is no need to spend 2 hours on a treadmill every single day. There are more effective ways to burning fat, like high intensity interval training and weight training. Workouts like these will raise our metabolism post workout as well as during, meaning your body will continue to burn calories at a higher weight hours after your workout! Sure, if you enjoy doing cardio, you shouldn't stop, but i'd always advise picking up some form of weight training as this will help strengthen your muscles, help prevent injury as well as improve your figure!


4) Make too many changes too soon - Drastic changes to your lifestyle will be hard to maintain. There's no need to live a deprived and restricted lifestyle if you want a better figure. You simply have to set yourself realistic goals and create habits that are both achievable and sustainable. You will not be able to create your dream figure overnight and it may take a while until you're truly happy with what you see. That is why you must enjoy what you eat and enjoy the exercise you do. You need to create a journey you want to be on and not one where you dread each step.
