"Do you know how much exercise it takes to burn off your lunch"

"Do you know how much exercise it takes to burn off your lunch"

"Labels should tell you how much exercise will burn off your food"

These were the headlines I saw today and instantly cried inside. Why must we always refer to exercise as a punishment? Why must we always demonise food and assume calories are bad.

Calories, just like kilojoules (KJ, the bigger number stated under energy on food labels) are just measures for energy. We need energy to survive, so yes, I'd say calories are pretty important. OBVIOUSLY, if we over consume energy, we will store it (as fat). Another obvious fact is if we don't get enough energy, our bodies will not function like it should.

Simply put, we need to understand that we need to find an energy balance that will enable us to look great and ensure we're "full of beans".

But anyways, back to my point...

Hello Mr Avocado, apparently we should treat you like Mr Snickers bar, because it will take us 35mins to run you both off.

Do you get it? We can't generalise calories. There's more to food than just calories. How about all the vitamins & fibre you get from the Apple that takes 13mins to run off.

Jheeeze, talk about making people feel sh*tty about eating! People, please don't worry about that packet of crisps you eat once in a blue moon, or whether you should do 50 burpees after dinner because you had a Yorkshire pudding.

Exercise & food should be enjoyed & It should make you feel great!

Just remember that word I've been saying a lot recently - BALANCE!
