What matters!?

How are we meant to know what is best for our health when there are actual Doctors/Professors/Healthcare professionals arguing with conflicting evidence.

I actually feel sorry for the general public, first minute they say so & so is bad, next minute they say so & so is good. It just promotes confusion.

It's generally the boring, plain, not so glamorous advice that we should be listening to. Why? Because there's usually no financial gain behind it. It's truth. The reason you don't hear more of it is because boring doesn't sell!

So here's some boring advice that you should be following if you want to live a less confusing, healthier life...

1) CALORIES MATTER - To lose weight you'll need to reduce your calorie intake. To gain weight, you'll need to increase your calorie intake. Don't increase/decrease your intake drastically (by a huge amount) as this will have a negative impact on your health and figure. Change should be done gradually!

2) YOU MATTER - You are your own person. Doing what person A, B, or C does, won't necessarily give you the same results. Create a lifestyle that is sustainable, tailored around your life & most importantly, one that makes you feel great.

3) FATS MATTER - The only fats in your life that you need to avoid are trans fats. The rest, enjoy them as part as a balanced diet. Remember not to live your life eating kilos of peanuts all day, because the calories will add up. But on the flip side, don't live your life deprived because a little portion isn't going to negatively impact your health. Portions matter.

4) BALANCE LIFESTYLES MATTER - You need balance in life. It's ok to eat something that isn't healthy once in a while. It's ok to enjoy a glass of wine. It's ok to want a biscuit or a slice of cake. Just remember balance! If you want to eat healthy 80%-90% of the time and not so healthy for the rest, that's 100% fine.

5) WORKOUTS MATTER - Exercise is a great way of burning calories and does wonders for your body. Find something you enjoy & stick to it. Be it walking the dog or doing an intense session with your PT. If it gets you moving, is safe & sustainable, enjoy it!

Worry less. Stress less. Smile more!
